He competes for points in the Supersport 300 World Championship and the IDM Supersport 300 series, but there’s more at stake: Max Kappler of the Freudenberg Team is an ambassador for a good cause. His commitment is to HOPE. The project has been dedicated to the fight against AIDS in the Cape Town region for many years. With the organization’s help, mother-to-child transmission has been reduced significantly in recent years.

What does KTM rider Kappler have to do with this? The Saxon has been racing for some time now with an AIDS ribbon on his leathers. And his white Scorpion helmet is being customized by artist Kay “LEO” Leonhardt so that, by the end of the season, all of Max’s races will be immortalized on the helmet in LEO’s unmistakable style. This one-of-a-kind helmet will be auctioned off to the highest bidder starting September 30, 2018, as part of the HOPE Sports Auction 2018 (www.hopesportauktion2018.de).

Starting October 9, 2018, fans will also be able to bid on Max’s racing suit in the auction. Both packages include a voucher for two tickets each to a Supersport 300 World Championship race during the 2019 season. The proceeds from the entire sports auction will then be donated to the associated children’s project in South Africa during the 13th HOPE Gala in Dresden.
