Second place behind the race winners André Kretzer and Björn Bosch has given the Bavarian-Saxon duo Josef Sattler and Uwe Neubert to win the title in the IDM Sidecar was called off. The race was called off due to a serious accident involving Adam Treasure/Brad Gorrie from Australia was called off early after eight rounds.

Winning today's title lifted a weight off Sattler's shoulders, as he has been struggling with health issues. He can now approach tomorrow's second race with a more relaxed mindset. For almost the entire race, Sattler drove with the Adolf RS1 F1 BMW-team in Kretzer's wake. On the ninth lap, he briefly took the lead, but the red flag was already waved on the back straight. The race was stopped due to Treasure's crash. The eighth lap counted toward the results: victory for Kretzer. It was the first for the LCR F1 Suzuki-driver this year. Co-pilot Björn Bosch had even more reason to celebrate. For him, it was the first victory of his entire sidecar career. But there is a downside. André Kretzer is hanging up his helmet. The 33-year-old will race his final sidecar race tomorrow. The current third-place IDM rider still has a chance to finish as runner-up. The former champions Bennie Streuer/Gerard Daalhuizen are within striking distance.
IDM fans will also have to say goodbye to Sattler/Neubert. The championship-winning team will compete in the World Championship in 2019.
Mike Roscher and Anna Burkard took third place on the podium for the third time this year. The German-Swiss duo will have to defend their fourth-place standing tomorrow Andres Nussbaum/Manuel Hirschi from Switzerland.
