In the IDM Supersport 300 has Victor Steeman (KTM) qualified for pole position. It was no surprise that the Dutchman would be at the front on his home track, although his manager Hans Smees, who used to race in the 250cc class, emphasizes that he hadn’t trained at the TT Circuit beforehand. Can Steeman win this weekend? “He doesn’t have to, but it would be better,” says Smees. The IDM leader is his German teammate Toni Erhard with the Kiefer Racing Team hot on his heels. Steeman has a lead of just four points. And Erhard will be right next to him on the starting grid tomorrow in second place. Third is Dion Otten, the fast Honda-Riders in the peloton, in which the Yamaha's predominate, but KTM is in the lead.

The Dutch make up the majority of the riders. The second-best German behind Toni Erhard is up-and-coming talent Max Schmidt ( KTM), who will start from seventh on the grid. What will the weather be like tomorrow? Cloudy with some sunshine and highs of 19 degrees. Steeman doesn’t care. His week-long spring training camp in Val de Vienne was completely rained out. Since then, the 18-year-old has been pain-free.
