Here we go again. The EURO MOTO is heading into its next round. The fifth of seven events this season will take place this weekend (August 14–16) in Assen, the Netherlands. The schedule features two races each in three premier classes. Three cup series round out the program.
The official name of the track is TT Circuit Assen. The letters "TT" stand for "Tourist Trophy" and are derived from the famous TT races on the Isle of Man. The track was designed specifically for motorcycle racing and features twelve right-hand turns and six left-hand turns. There is a spectacular turn just before the start-finish line, as well as a first-gear turn. One lap measures 4.555 kilometers.
In the EURO MOTO Superbike class, each race consists of 15 laps. Lukas Tulovic (Ducati) leads the standings with 166.5 points. Marcel Schrötter (BMW) follows with 122 points. Markus Reiterberger (BMW) has 105, Florian Alt (Honda) 87, and Twan Smits (Yamaha) 81 points. This means that all motorcycle brands are represented in the top 5.
Following the mass crash two weeks ago in Oschersleben, all the riders involved are back on the starting grid. Although he injured his hand, Twan Smits is also on the starting grid. The only Yamaha rider in the field doesn’t want to miss his home race. Extensive physical therapy has improved the mobility in his hand. He will be looked after by medical staff at the track.

Markus Reiterberger is calculating his chances of victory. In his last appearance at the TT Circuit in 2022, he won both races. The Bavarian says, “I’m looking forward to Assen; the track suits me well. After the devastating crash in Oschersleben, the team did a great job building a completely new bike, and we’ve also made progress with the setup. I think we can be even stronger in Assen. Victory is the clear goal. I’ve been preparing for the past two days by cutting down trees infested with bark beetles—that was a really tough workout.”

In the Supersport class, it’s a neck-and-neck race between Daniel Blin (Ducati) and Dirk Geiger (Yamaha). Only a single point separates the two. Will Geiger manage to move up to the higher class as champion next year? It was announced yesterday that the 24-year-old will switch to EURO MOTO Superbike after the 2026 season ends. Competition on the Supersport Yamaha also lurks in the form of his own teammate, Lennox Lehmann. The Dresden native hasn’t won a race yet this year, but has finished on the podium in every race so far—something neither Geiger nor Blin has managed. Close behind is Luca Göttlicher (MV Agusta), who, after two podium finishes, is far from done.

In the EURO MOTO Sportbike class, Štěpán Zuda won the last three races on his Triumph Daytona 660 and has pulled ahead of his rivals in the overall standings by 44 points. However, Jakob Rosenthaler (Triumph) and Tobias Kitzbichler (Aprilia) haven’t given up on the title yet. Especially since new teenagers are constantly making their mark at the top. In Most, 17-year-old Mika Siebdrath claimed his first trophy.
EURO MOTO—it’s a battle for thousandths of a second. The races at the TT Circuit are a celebration of speed and excitement, fueled by the fans.
The ADAC Junior Cup, the Kawasaki ZX4-RR Cup, and the Pro Superstock Cup also provide entertainment that’s worth every minute. All weekend tickets include paddock admission and access to the Fan Walk. EURO MOTO in Assen—it’s not just racing on the track, but also a hands-on experience.
