Three nations, two motorcycles, two teams on the front row of the grid. Things Supersport up in the EURO MOTO Supersport . Qualifying was a nail-biter right down to the last minute. The first race in Brno, Czech Republic, takes place today at 4:35 p.m. If you can’t be there in person, you can follow the action live at euromoto.racing/live.

Just under half of the field managed to improve their positions in the second qualifying session at the Automotodrom Brno. Daniel Blin, Dirk Geiger, and Marcel Brenner were not among them. They were faster and had already set their best times in Q1. As expected, Blin (Automarket AF Racing Team) pulled away from the pack and secured pole position, just as he did at the season opener at the Sachsenring. The 24-year-old Ducati rider from Poland finished third overall in the Supersport last year behind Dirk Geiger and Andreas Kofler, who has moved up to the World Championship. Theoretically, only Dirk Geiger stands in his way of winning the title, but the Yamaha newcomer wouldn’t dream of making way for him.

Daniel Blin is within Brenner's reach

“Quite the opposite: We found a few more things overnight that affect the front end of the bike. I don’t know anything about the technical side—the mechanics handle all that—but I now have a much better feel for the front end,” says Geiger (Team Apreco Yamaha), who has clearly communicated his preferences.

Blin is now starting to face competition from within his own team. Teammate Marcel Brenner says: “Before the season, I only had a day and a half of testing, and I wasn’t familiar with the Sachsenring either. But we’ve made huge progress since then. I’m handling the corners really well and getting closer and closer to Daniel. We went out on the track together during practice, and I was able to keep up with him easily. Maybe I shouldn’t overthink things right now—I should just focus on riding.”

Luca Göttlicher (LJ Racing) put in a sensational performance. He had missed the first event due to a shoulder injury. Now, riding the MV Agusta F3 800 RR, he qualified for the second row of the grid on his first attempt. With Göttlicher, the niche brand has landed a real wild card after a dry spell. The 19-year-old has big plans of his own and announced: “When the rocket takes off, it’ll be for real.” Fifth place on the grid was the goal; he ended up in sixth. There’s still room for improvement. Lorenzo Fellon from France ensured that a Kawasaki also made it into the top ten.
