Some stories in motorsports begin in the pit lane. This one, however, began when he was just a child. The Danish team led by Ty Henriksen will enter the 2026 EURO MOTO season with a special new addition: Lucas Sørensen is not just another Danish rider joining the team, but a longtime teammate.

Ty Henriksen has long been a fixture on the scene. Since his IDM debut in 2023—first in the Supersport 300 class and, last year, in the Sportbike class as well—the three-time Swedish champion has continued to improve. A clear upward trend in performance was particularly evident for Henriksen last season: Henriksen finished fourth three times, knocking ever louder on the door to the podium.

With this momentum behind him, he is now taking on his next challenge: EURO MOTO. By his side: Lucas Sørensen, his best friend since childhood. The bond between their two families goes back over a decade. While Ty and Lucas were already racing side by side on Pocket Bikes, their fathers, Lars and Mark, spent their nights in the paddock exchanging technical tips and working on the bikes. “It was never just about winning, but about the sport we shared,” recalls Lars Henriksen. This philosophy continues to shape the team to this day.

While Henriksen continued to pursue his goals with determination, Persson had to slow down a bit recently. Training took priority, and racing took a back seat. A new fire was ignited in Sørensen at Oschersleben last May: thanks to an IDM wildcard organized by Lars Henriksen, he gained new confidence. Back in Sweden, Sørensen showed strong progress and fought his way up to second place in the championship, right behind his friend Ty.

When the Henriksens finally told the two friends that they would no longer be competing in the Swedish championship, the decision was clear: instead of racing separately, the two families would join forces and compete together in the EURO MOTO.

This marks the start of a new chapter for the Danish duo, who will be competing in a significantly larger field in the sportbike class than last year. Riding their Aprilia RS660 motorcycles, they will take to the starting line together for the first time under their new team name, “Nordic Vikings,” at the season opener at the Sachsenring. And that’s exactly where their story really begins to take off.
