Mysterious things are happening at Team Eder Racing. Is the Bavarian team drifting into the sidecar scene? And what role does Luca de Vleeschauwer play?
Three wheels are usually one too many for Supersport Thomas Eder. But now that he’s ridden several times on a sidecar built by ARS manufacturer Adrian Kornas, things look different. Last weekend, he was out on the track at the Pannoniaring. A spectacular incident: On Saturday, Eder lost his passenger, Luca de Vleeschauwer, during a braking maneuver. The fourth-place finisher in the IDM Supersport class Supersport move up to IDM Superbike next year, but so far no opportunity has presented itself. The Belgian took a trial run on a three-wheeler in Hungary. Should Thomas Gradinger, Eder’s regular passenger in the sidecar, ever be absent, de Vleeschauwer has expressed strong interest in stepping in as a replacement.

“He did a great job,” says Eder, “and when he spun out while braking into that fast right-hand turn, luckily he wasn’t hurt.” This coming weekend, the team heads back to Hungary.
Whether and how Eder will compete in the IDM in 2026 remains to be seen. He’s taking his time with that decision. “But I’ll definitely be competing with wildcards in the Sidecar World Championship and maybe also in the BSB.”
