Following his crash during the IDM weekend in Assen two weeks ago, Ben Kugler (MotoLife) is back in action. The 21-year-old from Bavaria, who was violently thrown from his Triumph Daytona 660 by a highside during the first day of practice in the IDM Sportbike class and sustained several burns on his left leg and arm, feels fit enough again after a break of just over two weeks to compete in the races at the Nürburgring.

“The break did me good. The burns haven’t healed yet, but I can move around without pain again,” Kugler says. Although he hasn’t been able to train much in the meantime, his motivation remains undiminished: “Of course, I was limited—especially physically. But I’m determined to be back on the starting grid at the Nürburgring.”

This coming weekend, the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) will hold its next round at the Nürburgring from September 5 to 7—and Kugler wants to show that he’s far from giving up on the season.

The upcoming Öhlins Nürburgring weekend of the IDM is the penultimate round of the season. There are still four races left on the schedule. Kugler currently sits in eighth place in the overall standings after dropping two spots following his retirement at Assen. Before the crash, he was still in sixth place overall.
