Oliver Svendsen also dominated the second race weekend of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) in Oschersleben: The Dane impressively secured the maximum number of points with a one-two finish. Inigo Iglesias finished a strong second, while Justin Hänse was the top German rider in third place.
Unstoppable: Oliver Svendsen shines once again
Oliver Svendsen (Triumph Germany Racing Team) was in outstanding form at Oschersleben. After a spectacular victory in the first race—despite two long-lap penalties—the 21-year-old didn’t let anything slip in the second race either. Starting from sixth on the grid, he charged through the field as early as the first lap, snatching the lead from Petr Svoboda on the start-finish straight after the first lap and taking the lead. With a commanding lead of over seven seconds, Svendsen secured his next victory.
“We found a good way to fine-tune the new suspension. I felt extremely comfortable on the bike and was able to really enjoy the race,” Svendsen said with satisfaction afterward. With his one-two finish, he has extended his lead in the overall standings to 169 points—and remains the undisputed leader.
Pure excitement in the chasing pack
The battle for the remaining podium spots was much tighter. Every inch was fiercely contested between Petr Svoboda (WRP Racing), Inigo Iglesias (Wematik Racing by RT Motorsports), Justin Hänse (Motorradtke GYTR by Penz13), Luis Rammerstorfer (Freudenberg RoRa-Paligo Racing), and Rick Kooistra (Pearle Gebben Racing), every inch was fiercely contested. “The slightest mistake was immediately punished with an overtaking maneuver or an attack,” reported Justin Hänse, who held third place for a long time behind Iglesias and Svoboda. The latter two engaged in repeated fierce battles, which Hänse watched patiently. Behind him, Kooistra and Rammerstorfer were also fighting tooth and nail, forcing Hänse to stay calm and wait for the right moment.

It happened on lap ten: Hänse capitalized on a moment of confusion, passing both Iglesias and Svoboda to take the lead in the chasing pack—Svendsen was already out of striking distance by that point. But Iglesias didn’t let up. The Spaniard, who had previously overtaken Svoboda, set off in pursuit of Hänse. On the final lap, he stayed right on the German’s tail—and struck with clinical precision in the last corner. Coming out of the corner with more momentum, he edged past Hänse just before the finish line. “I knew Inigo would attack on the final lap. He just came out of the final corner better—and edged past me by a hair,” said Hänse, who was visibly pleased with his fourth podium finish after a mixed weekend in Most.
Svoboda fights back, Kooistra loses momentum
Petr Svoboda held on to fourth place at the finish, even though he was clearly struggling with his Aprilia RS 660. Rick Kooistra, who had celebrated his first IDM podium the day before, finished fifth—his tires wore out significantly in the final third of the race.
Luis Rammerstorfer, who made his comeback this weekend after a long injury layoff, put in a strong performance and finished sixth. He was followed by Cedric Holme Nielsen (Motorradtke GYTR by Penz13).
Weizel impresses, Brandl suffers a technical glitch
Alexander Weizel also had reason to be pleased: After starting in tenth place, he initially fell back but fought his way up to eighth. Korbinian Brandl rounded out the top 10, even though a broken gear lever hampered him as early as the first lap.
Following the second IDM event in Oschersleben, the IDM Sportbike series is now heading into its summer break. The action resumes August 15–17 in Assen—the legendary “Cathedral of Speed”—for the second, decisive half of the season.
