Only one half of the Feigl brothers—Peter and Filip (Genius Racing by MotoLife)—will be in the paddock at the Schleizer Dreieck. Peter Feigl has canceled his participation in the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) for this weekend at the last minute. While his brother Filip Feigl will be on the starting grid, Peter will stay home. The reason: his mother’s concerns.
Schleiz is known for its rich tradition, but also for being particularly demanding. Germany’s only natural race track is famous for its high speeds, tight turns, and limited safety zones—spectacular for fans, but a risk for riders. This is exactly what worries the family, especially the mother of Peter and Filip Feigl. Out of consideration, Peter Feigl—who has already been injured several times in crashes—decided to forgo his start in Schleiz. “Less stress for the family,” is how the Feigl camp describes the decision.
Brother Filip, on the other hand, is riding his Triumph Street Triple 765 RS as usual this weekend—because for him, important championship points are at stake in the IDM Supersport series. At the season opener in Oschersleben, the 20-year-old finished 12th and 6th. During Friday practice at Schleiz, he got off to a solid start with a 7th and 8th-place finish. His goal: points and his first podium finish. And brother Peter is certainly keeping his fingers crossed for him from home in Prague.
