He lives just 69 kilometers from the Schleizer Dreieck, but he is a true Saxon. Nevertheless, this weekend's event in Thuringia is his home race. Marvin Siebdrath from Wildenfels is more ready than ever to make it onto the podium in the IDM Supersport.
Marvin Siebdrath is barely recognizable. Outwardly, everything is as usual, but a lot has changed otherwise. "I had a good preseason," says the 21-year-old Yamaha rider, explaining: "I had mental support. Physically, I've made significant progress with a lot of training. And consistency was lacking last year."
After winning the IDM Supersport 300 championship title three years ago, Siebdrath's career took a rollercoaster ride and he moved up to the Supersport class. In the winter, he joined Yamalube Kofler Motorsport and has been riding alongside the current title holder Andreas Kofler from Austria ever since. "We compare the data after every training session. Andy is a bit faster than me. That means I can learn from him," reports Siebdrath.
Ahead of the second IDM event of the year at the Schleizer Dreieck from May 30 to June 1, he feels "more prepared and ready than ever." He achieved his second-best result of the season on the natural race track last year. Siebdrath racked up 14.5 points in the championship standings. Now he wants to top that. The time is ripe. "I definitely have to get on the podium." He thinks Buchhübel is really cool, "except for where we cross the road, that's not really my thing."
