He lives just 69 kilometers from the Schleizer Dreieck, but he’s a true Saxon through and through. Nevertheless, this weekend’s event in Thuringia is his home race. Marvin Siebdrath from Wildenfels is more ready than ever to make it onto the podium in the IDM Supersport.
Marvin Siebdrath is barely recognizable. Outwardly, everything is as usual, but a lot has changed otherwise. "I had a good preseason," says the 21-year-old Yamaha rider, explaining: "I had mental support. Physically, I've made significant progress with a lot of training. And consistency was lacking last year."
After winning the IDM Supersport championship three years ago, Siebdrath’s career took a roller-coaster ride as he moved up to the Supersport class. He joined Yamalube Kofler Motorsport over the winter and has been racing alongside the current defending champion, Andreas Kofler from Austria, ever since. “We compare the data after every practice session. Andy is a bit faster than I am. That gives me a chance to learn from him,” Siebdrath says.
Ahead of the second IDM event of the year at the Schleizer Dreieck from May 30 to June 1, he feels "more prepared and ready than ever." He achieved his second-best result of the season on the natural race track last year. Siebdrath racked up 14.5 points in the championship standings. Now he wants to top that. The time is ripe. "I definitely have to get on the podium." He thinks Buchhübel is really cool, "except for where we cross the road, that's not really my thing."
