Since Luis Rammerstorfer is unable to race due to a broken collarbone, the Freudenberg RORA-PALIGO Racing Team has sought and found a replacement for the Austrian rider for this coming weekend’s races at the Schleizer Dreieck. Iñigo Iglesias will take over in the IDM Sportbike class.
“Luis was injured during testing in Schleiz,” said team manager Carsten Freudenberg regretfully, “but at the same time, the sportbike class is new, and every kilometer counts when it comes to collecting important data.” A replacement rider, Spaniard Iñigo Iglesias, was found just in time.
The connection to Rob Vennegoor, the manager of the 23-year-old Spaniard, worked in Freudenberg’s favor. Vennegoor asked the Saxon team if they could provide another sport bike. For now, Iglesias will be taking over Rammerstorfer’s Triumph Daytona 660. Even though the team was unable to test any further in the run-up to the event, Freudenberg says the experience will be valuable for the still-young sportbike project.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens next. “There are several options for Iñigo,” explains Vennegoor, listing them: “At Freudenberg, with other IDM teams, and also in the World Championship. We’ll see how the weekend in Schleiz goes and won’t rush into anything.”
Iglesias had won the title in the IDM Supersport junior class in 2023 and subsequently moved up to the Supersport , where he finished third. His promising return to the International German Motorcycle Championship was set to take place this year in the IDM Supersport class Supersport Triumph Team Germany Racing, but the two parted ways after just the first race.
