After Patrick Hobelsberger’s short-lived partnership with Skach Kawasaki ended just as abruptly at the start of the year, the superbike rider has changed course and is now riding a Honda. It’s now official: He’s returning to the IDM. At least two races are on his schedule.

“We entered the Dutch Championship last week completely, completely, truly on a whim,” the 28-year-old Bavarian from Landau an der Isar gushes, as euphoric as ever. “I started from P3 and I won. That was practically my racing debut in 2025.”

“After a crash during practice in February, I sat down with my iPad in Spain and developed a plan for the season. It was born out of a small spark of hope that something might work out at all,” says the current team manager and Honda rider, reflecting on the early days following his departure from the official Kawasaki team. “Next, we’ll be competing in the Alpe Adria Cup races at the Pannoniaring and Brno to prepare for our planned IDM Superbike appearances.” Two races are all but confirmed, but discussions are still ongoing behind the scenes. Mathematically speaking, the options can only be Assen, the Nürburgring, or the Hockenheim finale.
