A tragic incident occurred in the British Superbike Championship (BSB). Shortly after the start of the Supersport on Sunday at the Oulton Park circuit near Liverpool, a fatal accident took place in which two riders lost their lives.

Owen Jenner, 21, and Shane Richardson, 29, died from their serious injuries after a crash in the first turn. A total of eleven riders were involved in the collision, several of whom required medical treatment for their injuries. The event organizer described it as a “chain reaction” and a “catastrophic accident.”

The organizers of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) are deeply saddened by the tragedy and would like to express their sympathy to the families of the affected riders and to the event organizer during this difficult time. “Our hearts go out to them,” says IDM Series Manager Normann Broy. He adds: “We do everything we can to make our wonderful sport as safe as possible and have been able to prevent many serious accidents. Nevertheless, in some situations—such as the one we’re seeing now with the BSB—we are, unfortunately, powerless.”
