Measure, analyze, draw conclusions. Thanks to the specialists at Amerschläger P4 and their performance test bench, technical commissioners can now examine the motorcycles in greater detail. The German company, based in Kempten in the Oberallgäu region, is becoming a partner of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM).
As part of the partnership, a high-precision test bench will be installed in a mobile trailer specifically for the IDM, ensuring accurate performance measurements at the race venues. “It provides the technical commissioners with precise results as quickly as possible, with our initial focus on inspecting the motorcycles from the new sportbike class,” says IDM Series Manager Normann Broy about the new addition, and he is very pleased with the new business relationship with a partner that has a wealth of experience and develops and manufactures its products in Germany.
Former race car driver Richard Speiser has been at the helm of Amerschläger P4, a company founded in 1983, for nearly five years. He has achieved a great deal in his career. In 2010, he finished third in the World Long-Track Championship, and the following year he was runner-up. From 2009 to 2011, he won the World Long-Track Team Championship with Germany three years in a row. In the European Grass Track Championships, he finished second in 2008 and third in 2013. He also claimed the runner-up title in the 2013 German Long Track Championships.
Even after retiring from racing, Speiser has remained technically involved in the motorcycle scene. The current owner and managing director of Amerschläger P4 emphasizes: “As a longtime motorsports enthusiast, I know how crucial precise performance data is for the optimal tuning of a motorcycle. Our test benches deliver precise and reproducible results—exactly what riders need for fair competition. We are pleased to support the IDM with our technology.”
The mobile test bench will be used at select races throughout the season, giving all teams the opportunity to have their machines tested independently. Through this partnership, the IDM is committed to even greater transparency and fairness in motorsports. The independent measurements provide riders and teams with a reliable assessment of their machines’ performance—right at the racetrack.
