The injured “Spider-Martin” Vugrinec will also miss the next IDM round in Oschersleben. The Skach Motors Kawasaki Racing team has found a replacement rider in Federico Caricasulo. If all goes well, the Italian will test the ZX-10 RR on German soil as early as next week.
“Our electronics partner MecTronik put its connections to work,” says Oliver Skach, explaining the high-profile addition to the team, which was finalized yesterday evening. With Federico Caricasulo, a veteran of the Supersport has joined the team. The 28-year-old Italian made his debut on the world stage as Supersport 2014 national Supersport, competing in the European Superstock 600 series, the Moto2 World Championship, and the Superbike World Championship—though most frequently in the Supersport.
For the Italian from Ravenna, the adventure of racing in the IDM Superbike class is a fantastic challenge. He knows what the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) is all about, “but he’ll be surprised by the level of competition, which is probably even higher than he thinks,” believes Skach, who expects Caricasulo to be among the top riders during the Oschersleben weekend.
The test in the Magdeburg Börde region, which was announced in advance, depends on how the planned suspension work on the Kawasaki progresses.
