Pole position for the FIM Sidecar race at the Sachsenring has been decided: Sam and Tom Christie (Hannafin/LCR Yamaha) set the fastest lap time of 1:28.696 in the second qualifying session. This means they will start the races from the front of the grid. The sprint race begins at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
Clearly in the lead just yesterday, but starting from second place today: Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau (Steinhausen Racing/ARS Yamaha) were unable to dominate in Q2 and finished just behind the Christie brothers with a best time of 1:28.771 minutes. Behind them in third place are Markus Schlosser and Luca Schmidt (Team Schlosser/LCR Yamaha), trailing by 0.252 seconds.
Things are back on track for Bennie Streuer and Kevin Kölsch (Team Streuer/ARS Yamaha). After numerous technical setbacks last year that repeatedly set them back, they are gradually regaining their former strength. They will start the races from fourth position, followed by Lennard Göttlich and Lucas Krieg (Bonovo Action Junior Team / ADAC Sachsen e.V./ARS Yamaha).
While Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement (Team Ellis/Clement Racing/LCR Yamaha) were somewhat disappointing with an eighth-place finish, Patrick Werkstetter and Valentin Pirat (Team Bonovo Action/Sattler Motorsport/ARS Yamaha) surprised everyone by securing the tenth starting position. The German and the Frenchman teamed up just a few days ago and are now completing their first laps together here at the Sachsenring.
