In a month and a half, the season opener of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) will take place at the Sachsenring. Anyone wishing to compete for championship points can register for the series starting now.

Registration takes place on the website www.idm.de. Click on the “Participant Info” button there. This link applies to all participants in the IDM Superbike, Supersport, and Supersport 300 classes. Up-and-coming young drivers in the Cup classes can also find the information they need here.

There are two types of registration: either as a permanent driver or as a guest driver. Permanent registration is valid for the entire 2024 season. This entitles participants to earn points. Guest registration allows participation in up to three events. In this case, participants do not earn championship points.

For the first time, Motor Presse Stuttgart, as the promoter of the IDM, is using the new onGRID system. It streamlines administrative processes for future events.

To participate in the 2024 season races, drivers must hold an internationally valid license from the DMSB (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund e.V.) or an internationally valid license issued by their home federation, along with a foreign driver’s permit. An increasing number of drivers from abroad—including those from outside Europe—view the series as a platform to establish themselves nationally or lay the groundwork for a future career.

It’s encouraging to see more and more motorcycle brands participating in the IDM. “The addition of Ducati and MV Agusta expands the lineup this year,” said IDM Series Manager Normann Broy. “But it’s also a sign of how attractive our series has become in recent years. On top of that, the top riders in each class are competing at World Championship level. That’s an incentive for the participants, but also a fantastic experience for the spectators. At the same time, the IDM remains very close to its fan base, because anyone who buys a race ticket also gets free access to the paddock.”
