It’s now official—what was kept under wraps at the season finale in Hockenheim: IDM champion Inigo Iglesias will return to the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship in 2024. There will be no change of teams; he will remain with Team Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki, for whom he also competed in the IDM this year.
It was a successful year for the Spaniard, who competed in the IDM for the first time this year. He secured a total of twelve podium finishes and four victories for his team in the IDM. “I felt very comfortable in this championship and was impressed by how high the level of competition is here. It felt similar to the World Championship,” summarizes the 23-year-old from Valencia. He is all the happier to have emerged as the winner this year. Team manager Rob Vennegoor is also proud of his protégé’s achievements and that the partnership will continue next season. “We had hoped that the collaboration with Inigo would be successful and long-term, and that we would continue with him in the World Championship as well,” says Vennegoor, who, together with team boss Frank Krekeler, has been represented in the World Championship with a joint team since 2019.
Inigo Iglesias is already well-established on the international motorsports scene. He competed in the World Championship for a total of three seasons, from 2020 to 2022. He achieved his best result in 2021, finishing seventh in the overall standings. In his last two years in the World Championship, he raced for SMW Racing, which, however, withdrew from the championship for financial reasons.
