If you want to succeed in road racing and have a chance at a spot in MotoGP, you have to get into racing at a young age. Those who can make their mark in the Pocket or Minibike classes in their early years usually go on to pursue a path toward the World Championship via the Red Bull Rookies Cup or the Northern Talent Cup. With the Spanish Moto2 Championship (CEV), there is another stepping stone that has become almost indispensable for German talents seeking a successful rise to MotoGP.
For parents in Germany who are passionate about motorsports, it is therefore extremely difficult—for both financial and logistical reasons—to send even one child down this path. Not to mention that the necessary talent must also be there. Enabling two children to dare to dream of the World Championship is therefore almost a miracle. Nevertheless, brothers Kevin and Leon Orgis have managed to make the leap to Spain.
After a year in the Moto3 Junior World Championship, he moved up to the Moto2 European Championship. Then came the pandemic, and the difficult situation didn’t spare the Orgis brothers’ sponsors either, so after four years together, the adventure came to an end for Leon in 2021. With the end of the 2022 season, Kevin’s days in Spain were also numbered, and 2023 marked the start of a new chapter for both of them in the IDM.
While Leon is working to regain his former form in the IDM Supersport class with the Kiefer Racing Team after a one-year break from racing, Kevin has moved up to Pro Superstock 1000 and is already competing for the title in the rookie class during his first season in Superbike racing.
