Marco Fetz will miss the upcoming races in the IDM Superbike series. The Bavarian rider crashed yesterday during the second qualifying session at the Motorsport Arena, forcing the session to be red-flagged and ended early. As it turned out later that evening after he received medical attention, Fetz has fractured his fifth thoracic vertebra. “The good news is that it’s not completely broken,” says the 23-year-old BMW rider from MF-Racing powered by Jung.
His great anticipation for the IDM races and the planned World Endurance Championship race at Spa has been followed by a major disappointment. Fetz continues to be plagued by injuries. He will be allowed to leave the hospital in Neindorf, a district of Oschersleben, where he is currently being treated, in the next three to four days. Doctors have estimated that his injury will take two to three months to heal.
