Two riders, two motorcycle brands, and one idea: Moritz Jenkner (Yamaha) and Kevin Orgis (BMW) have decided to make a guest appearance at the Sachsenring in Germany’s top motorcycle racing class. The two Saxons from the Pro Superstock 1000 series will take the plunge for a weekend at the IDM season opener from May 12–14. They will be racing in the IDM Superbike class.

For Jenkner, who hails from Hohenstein-Ernstthal and races for the PZ-Motorsport/Racespare.com team, a childhood dream is coming true—right on his doorstep.
Orgis, who hails from Arnsdorf—just 40 kilometers away—and takes half an hour to reach the Sachsenring, views his guest appearance quite pragmatically: “The Pro Superstock 1000 series isn’t yet underway as part of the IDM opener; it starts later. So, in terms of organization and logistics, my participation in the Superbikes is completely stress-free. I see my appearance as a great opportunity to race a 1000cc machine for the first time. I’ve never done that before. It’s, so to speak, my dress rehearsal before the Pro Superstock 1000 season, when points will be on the line.”

What are his chances in the premier class? “I’m riding my stock sport bike, which obviously doesn’t have quite as much power and is subject to more technical regulations than a Superbike. But I don’t see that as a huge problem,” says the 23-year-old, adding: “Sure, we’ll be a bit weaker, but it won’t be an obstacle.
Given its proximity to the Sachsenring, one might think Orgis knows every pebble on the track there. Far from it. “I’ve raced there before in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, but since I’ve been competing in the Spanish Championship for the past few years, I actually know the tracks in Valencia and Aragon better.”
