Twelve years ago, Hannes Soomer—now 25—began his career in the ADAC Junior Cup. At the time, it was a sensation to have a rider from Estonia in the field. A year later, Soomer stood on the podium for the first time and has been a fixture ever since. After his subsequent world tour, he is now returning to the series where his career began—the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM). He will compete in the premier Superbike class on a Honda CBR 1000 RR-R for Team Enos Motorsport.
He’s known as “The Baltic Bullet”—the Estonian racer from Tallinn who has recently been traveling all over the world. Promoted to the Supersport in 2016, he regularly scored points and secured several top-ten finishes there. But after 74 races over eight Supersport, he is now set to make the switch to a new profession. Soomer has been riding motorcycles since he was four years old. He was named Estonia’s best road racer and honored as Motorcycle Sportsman of the Year.
