Registration for Germany's top motorcycle racing series has begun. The first riders have signed up. The fastest were: Michael Ghilardi in the IDM Superbike class, the Beinlich brothers in the IDM Supersport 600 class, and rookie Alec Willemen in the IDM Supersport 300 class.

Swiss rider Michael Ghilardi was the first to make his debut in the IDM Superbike series. Having competed as a guest rider at Hockenheim in 2022, he now plans to race full-time on the Yamaha YZF-R1.

Brothers Christoph and Troy Beinlich got everything sorted out in the IDM Supersport series. “We took care of it right away, so that’s one thing off the list,” says Chris Beinlich about the official entry. However, the new Supersport Next Generation regulations—which have been adapted to the Supersport World Championship—present him and his family with major challenges. “We have four Yamahas whose engines need to be brought up to the new standard,” reports the Pößnecker native. “We’ve inquired with various tuners. But we’ve ruled out the plan to have them do it. We’ll be doing most of it ourselves. It won’t be easy, but we’re committed to the new regulations—that’s what we’ve decided. And we won’t be showing up without having good equipment at the start.”

Alec Willemen is a new name in the IDM Supersport 300 class. The 17-year-old Dutch rider is a rising star from the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU Cup, where he finished fifth overall last year. Willemen stood on the podium three times and won the first race at the Red Bull Ring.
