Marvin Siebdrath had actually planned to take on the competition in higher classes in 2023, but now the 2022 IDM Supersport will remain in the junior series for another year. To do so, the former Kawasaki rider is switching brands and moving to a Yamaha with the Kiefer Racing Team.
The 19-year-old champion is set to defend his title as part of the “Yamaha bLU cRU IDM by Kiefer Racing” project. After Kiefer Racing and Yamaha Motor Germany laid the groundwork last year for a joint program to develop young talent, the project has come to fruition. For Siebdrath, the key factor is that Kiefer Racing offers the opportunity to guide its riders all the way to the World Championship. And two-time world champion Sandro Cortese is on hand as his riding coach.
Siebdrath, a 19-year-old from Wildenfels, Saxony, who was brought onto the team by Cortese, is thrilled: “I definitely want to pick up where I left off—that is, with the championship title—even though I don’t know the bike or the team yet. I’m very confident that I’ll achieve my goal, because I know the team is very professional.”
The driver from the Ore Mountains celebrated ten podium finishes in 14 races in 2022 and did not miss a single race.
