The schedule for the 2023 season of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) has been finalized. With the new year approaching, final preparations for the individual events can now begin. Germany’s premier motorcycle racing series will once again compete at a total of seven race tracks in 2023. The season opener will take place in May at the Sachsenring. After a two-year hiatus, the IDM returns to the legendary MotoGP circuit in Saxony. With the Red Bull Ring in Austria and the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands, two additional international venues have been confirmed—both of which regularly host the World Motorcycle Championship. Their IDM dates on the final schedule are closer together than originally planned.
The racetracks in Oschersleben and Most, Czech Republic, will also be back for the 2023 season, as will the Schleizer Dreieck—which will also be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023—and the Hockenheimring. In the motorcycle capital of Thuringia, the highlight of the year will be celebrated in style with thousands of fans, and the season will culminate with the title ceremony at the Motodrom in Baden. “It’s an international affair, which is what the IDM stands for,” says series manager Normann Broy, “and that applies equally to teams, riders, and tracks. The fact that we’ve secured three Grand Prix tracks as venues underscores the championship’s ever-increasing quality, where both up-and-coming riders and the European elite compete against one another.”
