After twelve years, the former Wilbers BMW Racing Team and the Bavarian manufacturer are parting ways. However, the team remains committed to winning the IDM Superbike championship title with Florian Alt.

The original plan was to compete in the premier class next year with three BMW riders: Florian Alt, Marco Fetz, and Ricardo Brink. The Dutch rider had tested the M 1000 RR the very Monday after the IDM finale at Hockenheim.
The 26-year-old Alt was to be part of the so-called A-team, working on the development of the 2023 version of the M 1000 RR, which features optimized aerodynamics. The 22-year-old Fetz and Brink, who is two years older, were to work together on the B-team.

However, according to Benny Wilbers, no agreement could be reached with BMW regarding sponsorship for 2023. The team has therefore decided not to continue their partnership. In 2022, the team secured the runner-up title in the premier class with Florian Alt.
“We would like to thank everyone at BMW for the many years of positive collaboration. It was fun and successful, but eventually all good things must come to an end,” the team boss reflects. Negotiations with other manufacturers are underway.
