The stage is set for a thrilling race in the IDM Supersport at the Red Bull Ring with the conclusion of the second qualifying session on Saturday morning. Dirk Geiger (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) will start the race from pole position, right next to him is his teammate and title contender Marvin Siebdrath. In the final sprint of the season, the Wildenfels native will be fighting for important points in the battle for the title in Spielberg. Only one point separates him from the current championship leader Leo Rammerstorfer (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing), which is why Kawasaki has upgraded its lineup this weekend with Dirk Geiger. With first and second place on the grid, the strategy seems to be paying off. "We are very happy with how things have gone for us so far," says Frank Krekeler, team boss of Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki. Marvin Siebdrath was also confident about the races after qualifying. "Everything has gone really well so far," said the 19-year-old.
Behind the two Kawasaki riders, Lennox Lehmann (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing) and Leo Rammerstorfer will be joining the race – and going on the attack. Rammerstorfer is also aware that the road to the title is not only about riding performance, but also about strategy. "Our tactic in the races will be to make life as difficult as possible for Kawasaki," says Rammerstorfer, who was able to improve by three positions after making some changes to the setup following the first qualifying session. He will start from fourth place on the second row on Saturday afternoon. Oliver Svendsen (5, Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) and Mate Szamado (6, Hungarian Racing Engineering Team) will be starting next to him.
Jorke Erwig also managed to improve his position by several places. The German jumped from 14th to eighth in the second qualifying session.
The first race of the IDM Supersport 300 will take place this Saturday at 2:35 p.m. and can be watched free of charge at www.idm.de/live.
