After two free practice sessions, Friday came to a close for the IDM Supersport with the first qualifying session. Dirk Geiger (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) set the fastest time with a lap of 1:49.712, having already posted the fastest lap in FP1. The Mannheim native’s goal this weekend is to score points and support his teammate Marvin Siebdrath (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) in the title fight. The strategy already paid off for the Kawasaki team in the first qualifying session. Siebdrath posted the second-fastest time and, in his slipstream, pulled teammate Oliver Svendsen (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) along behind him; Svendsen fought his way up to third place on his final flying lap, pushing Lennox Lehmann (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing) back one position.

Behind Lehmann, teammate Scott Deroue (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing) secured second place on the timesheet, followed by Mate Szamado (Hungarian Racing Engineering Team). The Hungarian had already shown during free practice that he feels at home at the Red Bull Ring and is in good spirits. High expectations are weighing particularly heavily on Leo Rammerstorfer (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing) this weekend. Not only because he must once again defend his championship lead, but also because the Red Bull Ring is his home race. He finished the first qualifying session in seventh place, followed by Walid Khan (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing).

The second qualifying session will take place on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. That’s when it will be decided who will start from pole position in the first race on Saturday afternoon at 2:25 p.m. All races will be broadcast live at www.idm.de/live.
