Will Melvin van der Voort make it onto the podium this coming weekend at the IDM in Assen? After two fourth-place finishes on the SWPN-Yamaha this season and a successful test run at Jack’s Racing Day three days ago, the 17-year-old has good reason to be hopeful.
Van der Voort holte sich bei dem Event auf dem TT Circuit Assen die Pole Position in der Supersport-Klasse. Im zweiten Qualifying verbesserte er dabei seine persönliche Rundenbestzeit auf dem Kurs um acht Zehntelsekunden und wurde mit 1:41,4 min gemessen. Anschließend gewann van der Voort beide Rennen.
Jack’s Racing Day is a major combined auto and motorsports event held annually. There couldn’t have been a better way for the teenager to prepare for the IDM, where he is currently ninth in the overall standings, as he says: “It was great to race at Jack’s Racing Day! I think I’m ready for the IDM races now!”
Die Niederländer setzen beim Heimspiel sogar noch einen drauf. Victor Steeman, der am 31. Juli den zweiten Supersport 300-WM-Lauf in Most gewann und WM-Dritter ist, wird bei der IDM in Assen für das RRSocia Racing Team in der höheren Supersport-Klasse an den Start rollen.
