His teammate Walid Khan will start the race from second place. Fast and consistent lap times have given him the confidence to declare with conviction: “My rivals had better watch out.” The Dutch rider is currently third in the overall standings and trails leader Leo Rammerstorfer (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing) by just 26 points; Rammerstorfer will be opening the throttle from fourth on the grid.
Marvin Siebdrath (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) posted the third-fastest time and rounds out the front row of the grid. Afterward, he was seen discussing the noticeable loss of power in warm outside temperatures with his team. “Yes, there are a few issues, and we’re trying to figure out what’s causing them,” said Siebdrath. Despite the problems, nothing can dampen his excitement for the upcoming races. “Racing in Schleiz is just really fun,” said the 18-year-old, who recently graduated from high school.
Hungarian rider Mate Szamado (Hungarian Racing Engineering Team) secured fifth place on the grid, followed by German rider Troy Beinlich (Roto-Store BRT Vitori) and Danish rider Oliver Svendsen (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki).
The first race on Saturday afternoon starts at 4:55 p.m. and can be watched for free at www.idm.de/live.
