Leo Rammerstorfer and Lennox Lehmann (Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing) battled it out for the win in the first race of the IDM Supersport 300 at Schleiz. Lehmann led the race for a long time, then Walid Khan took over for a few laps. While Lehmann and Khan kept swapping the lead back and forth, Leo Rammerstorfer fought his way up through the field. The Austrian started the race from fourth position and managed to hold onto it. However, he struggled for several laps to get past his rival Marvin Siebdrath (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki). But his patience and tenacity paid off after a short time, allowing him to leave Siebdrath behind and catch up to Khan and Lehmann. With a move against Khan—who had since been pushed back to second place by Lehmann—Rammerstorfer managed to hold his position behind the leader. In the penultimate corner, the 17-year-old finally cut inside and passed Lehmann. The victory was secure, as were 25 new points in his tally. “The whole weekend didn’t go entirely smoothly for me. That makes me all the happier about this victory,” said the likable blond-haired rider. With that, the top two podium spots went to KTM.
Marvin Siebdrath (Füsport – RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki) crossed the finish line in third place, dashing the hopes of the Freudenberg KTM – Paligo Racing team to have all three of its riders on the podium. When Lehmann, Rammerstorfer, and Khan led the race as a trio, it looked for a brief moment as though that hope might come true. But Siebdrath didn’t let up and, seizing the moment, overtook Walid Khan. Although Khan had declared on the starting grid that he wanted to win and would shave his head if he did, he had no way of keeping up with Siebdrath. He ultimately finished in fourth place.
Troy Beinlich (Roto-Store BRT Vitori) finished fifth. For the Kawasaki rider from Pößneck, the Schleizer Dreieck is a home race, which is why he was especially motivated to give it his all here on Saturday. At first, Beinlich was able to keep up well with the leading group, but it didn’t take long before he ran out of steam.
The second race of the IDM Supersport 300 will start on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and can be watched for free via the online stream at www.idm.de/live.
