The second qualifying session in the IDM Supersport completely different results at Most in the Czech Republic.
This time, unlike this morning, the track was dry, and lap times plummeted
to rock bottom.
After 25 minutes, it was clear that three of the four guest riders from the Supersport
World Championship would start Sunday’s two races from the front row: Glenn
van Straalen, Raffaele de Rosa, and Patrick Hobelsberger. A Ducati—or rather, an Italian rider
—is standing up to the Yamaha armada. This has been possible in the IDM since this year thanks to the
regulations, which have been aligned with the rules of the Supersport. They allow
the use ofSupersport ” motorcycles, a category that includes the Ducati Panigale V2.
Thomas Gradinger (Eder Racing) will start from the second row after qualifying fourth. Next to him,
Max Enderlein (M32 Racing), who has won the last four races, finds himself in an un
position. He was understandably dissatisfied with his lap time and made no secret of
the reason: “Yesterday in free practice, I was a second faster.” Between the first and
second qualifying sessions, there was a lot of commotion surrounding Enderlein. In the first session, the
Hohenstein-Ernstthal native had crashed right at the very end: “I think it was the fastest crash
of my career. I was going about 160 km/h.” His mechanics had their hands full
straightening out the Yamaha so Enderlein could roll back out for Q2.
Enderlein's spin in the rain-soaked first qualifying session was not an isolated incident. The same thing happened to Chris
Beinlich, Bastian Ubl, Julius Caesar Rörig, Patrik Carda, Jakob Furtner, Milan Merckelbagh, Leon
Lambing, and Philipp Stich.
Once again, Luca de Vleeschauwer (Kawasaki Weber-Motos Racing) was the top Kawasaki rider.
The rookie from Belgium is third in the IDM overall standings. Please note: the three riders from the
front row will not receive any championship points. If they make it onto the podium after the race
, they will receive a trophy commemorating the event, but under no circumstances will they receive IDM points. These will be
awarded in sequence at the usual rate to the subsequent, registered IDM riders.
