The Kiefer Racing Team has had an eventful few years and has been making its mark in the IDM Superbike series since 2021. With outstanding results. With Luca Grünwald, the team finished third overall right off the bat in its debut year. Now the Bad Kreuznach-based crew is heading into its second year in Germany’s top motorcycle racing class. The riders are Björn Stuppi and newcomer Gabriel Noderer. Both will be racing on BMW S 1000 RRs.
For Stuppi, this marks a fresh start, even though he’s continuing his career with the team. He scored his only point of last season at the season finale in Hockenheim. That was not the result he had hoped for.
“Of course, I wasn’t entirely satisfied with my performance last year,” he says, adding, “I felt really at home with the team, and together we were able to improve my lap times. However, the entire field has gotten faster, and the competition was fierce. I’ve prepared well during the long break and now can’t wait for the season to finally get underway. Together with my team, I’ll be fighting to move up the ranks.”
For Gabriel Noderer, on the other hand, everything is new. The 25-year-old from Thalmässing is moving up from the IDM Supersport class to the premier class. The shoulder injury he sustained in Schleiz—which sidelined him for more than half the season—has healed. He is looking forward to what lies ahead. “Kiefer Racing is an internationally successful and renowned team with a wealth of experience. For me, this is the best opportunity to continue developing. The chemistry was right right from the first meeting. With Jochen Kiefer’s team, I’ll be taking the next step in my racing career. The team had an impressive first season in the IDM Superbike with many strong results. Since I’ve never ridden a bike like this before, it will be a challenge for me as a rookie to find my feet as quickly as possible.”
The Kiefer Racing Team will compete in three IDM classes in 2022 and has entered into a partnership with Yamaha for this purpose. In the IDM Supersport class, Swiss rider Yves Stadelmann will ride a YZF-R6. At the same time, the Yamaha bLU cRU IDM by Kiefer Racing project will launch with Michel-Caspar Wieth on a Yamaha R3. Special feature: Here, Kiefer Racing is collaborating with Sandro Cortese. He is one of the team’s former riders from its days in the 125cc World Championship. Cortese is supporting the project as team coordinator.
