The Freudenberg team from Saxony remains committed to developing young talent and will keep 17-year-old Austrian Leo Rammerstorfer on board for 2022. This means that the strongest rookie from the previous IDM Supersport 300 season is now confirmed as another rider in the junior class.

Rammerstorfer made his debut with the Saxons in 2021 and scored points for two third-place finishes in the races at the Red Bull Ring. He also won the inaugural season of the Austrian Junior Cup with seven victories in eight races.

Team managers Michael and Carsten Freudenberg, along with KTM, are doing everything they can to support his career. Last week, the Austrian rider picked up a KTM motocross bike from his team in Bischofswerda. The bike is part of KTM’s support package. On the one hand, the brand equips the team with the RC 390 R, a small, nimble machine designed for the racetrack. On the other hand, KTM also provides motocross bikes, which can be allocated to the riders through the team manager.
Rammerstorfer will definitely get to enjoy racing at full speed in the winter, as well as training on asphalt with his teammate Lennox Lehmann.

Carsten Freudenberg is thrilled with the Feldkirchen native’s progress: “Leo had a really strong rookie season in 2021. Of course, we want to see our riders continue to develop. Leo has more than surprised us! He works very hard on himself and his fitness, is a true marathon fighter, and leaves nothing to chance. To keep his development on track, he’ll be staying active this winter with fitness training, cyclocross, and his training bike. We want to take the next step together. Consistent top-5 finishes and competing for the podium are our shared goals. Of course, Leo also dreams of the championship, but that’s still a long way off.”

Rammerstorfer is hoping to learn a lot from Scott Deroue, the two-time world runner-up, who joined the Freudenberg team a week ago to help develop the next version of the RC 390 R. “This winter, in addition to my fitness training in Spain, I’ll be practicing on regular roads and kart tracks to further improve my feel for the bike. At home, I’ll also be riding motocross. I want to spend as much time as possible on the bikes.”
