By the end of the season, he was the only IDM Superbike rider on the Bonovo Action by MGM Yamaha Racing Team, but it doesn't look like Marc Moser will be returning. Although the team has not yet officially announced its withdrawal from the series—despite initial indications—Moser has been looking for a new team since the end of the season.
An opening-round victory at Oschersleben, pole position at Most, third place at Assen, and ultimately ninth in the overall standings. Moser wants more and is exploring every possible avenue. He says he happened to strike up a conversation with Kawasaki team boss Emil Weber purely by chance. But upon closer inspection, it’s clear from Moser’s look back at the past that he hasn’t yet been able to make peace with the motorcycle brand. “I hit a personal low point in my career in 2017 when I had my worst season in the Superstock 1000 European Championship riding a Kawasaki.” That still stings. The Dieburg native raced in the class for six years, competing in 39 races and scoring points 14 times—but only once during the 2017 season. In 2019, he made a breakthrough in the IDM Superbike 1000.
After three years, Moser wants to remain in Germany's top league and is open to all possibilities. He has also put out feelers in the FIM Endurance World Championship, but so far, there have been no contract negotiations anywhere.
The former Yamaha rider is using this break from racing to focus on his studies. If everything goes according to plan, the native of Hesse will earn his master’s degree in Corporate Performance & Restructuring in 2022.
