The final round of the IDM Superbike 1000 was not for the faint of heart. Ilya Mikhalchik (EGS-alpha-Van Zon-BMW) had already secured the championship title in the premier class. The focus was on the battle for second place. Three riders were in contention: Florian Alt (Wilbers-BMW), Luca Grünwald (Kiefer Racing), and Vladimir Leonov (Hertrampf MO Yamaha Racing Team).
After the start from the reverse grid—which is determined by the finishing order of the first race—the Kiefer BMW S 1000 RR shot to the front, but Markus Reiterberger (BCC Racing) and Julian Puffe (GERT56) quickly put an end to that. And suddenly, the weather went haywire. Rain fell with varying intensity across different sections of the track. That could have been the deciding factor, as all the riders slowed down and rode more cautiously. However, the spell was soon broken. What followed was a Leonov show. The Russian overtook Reiterberger and Grünwald in quick succession, and it seemed there was no stopping him. As things stood, Leonov was heading toward the runner-up title—purely mathematically. Grünwald, however, wasn’t about to let the reins slip from his grasp; he relegated Reiterberger to third place and now felt more secure again. Reiterberger, on the other hand, couldn’t care less about the overall result. The crowd favorite had only just returned to the IDM at the Schleizer Dreieck. For him, only individual results mattered.
While it seemed like everything was already on the line at the front, Florian Alt, who started from eighth position, hadn’t been sitting idle either. The rider from Engelskirchen was the fastest man on the track on his M 1000 RR—and he was aiming for second place in the premier class. And suddenly, it was looking damn good. Alt fought his way through, and nothing seemed likely to prevent him from claiming a narrow victory. Reiterberger secured a one-two finish. Grünwald finished second and Leonov third. In the final standings, this meant Mikhalchik is the champion with 176 points, ahead of Florian Alt (145), Grünwald (144), and Leonov (138).
Mikhalchik finished the season in fifth place after a hard crash in the first race. Teammate Jan Mohr secured his best finish of the season with an eighth-place finish. Guest rider Luca Vitali (HRP-Honda) once again brought the CBR 1000 RR-R into the top ten. Daniel Kartheininger made progress on the Ducati V4R Panigale. Lukas Tulovic (SWPN, Yamaha) crashed out of the race in the second race.
