After three days of testing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, IDM Supersport 600 riders Jeroen Hilster and Colin Velthuizen are one step closer to a successful start to the season.
Lentink Sports Racing has completed its rollout. Although the team from the Netherlands had hoped for more sunshine in Spain, they used the rainy day to re-evaluate the Yamahas ridden by Jeroen Hilster and newcomer Colin Velthuizen and to formulate a strategy for the remaining two days. During these sessions, they primarily tested the new Pirelli tires that are set to be used in the Supersport 600 class.
Hilster’s fastest lap time was 1:38.677. The 19-year-old is about to start his second IDM Supersport 600 season and says, “It was the first time I’d been back on the Yamaha R6 since the last race in 2020. The test went very well, and I’m really looking forward to the first race.”
For Velthuizen, it was his first time riding the Yamaha R6 from Lentink Sports Racing. The most important thing for the 17-year-old was to complete as many laps as possible so he could get a feel for the bike. According to team manager Tristan Lentink, the rider moving up from the 300cc class is also right on track in terms of speed.
Preparations for the start of the IDM Supersport 600 season will continue in early April, when two days of testing are scheduled at the TT Circuit Assen. Following that, both Hilster and Velthuizen will compete in the first round of the Dutch Championship in Assen on April 10, 2021.
