Milan Merckelbagh and Patrick Hobelsberger will be competing for Bonovo action /MGM Racing Performance in the IDM Supersport 600 to earn points. The contracts were signed right on time—just like a Christmas present.

A week ago, Dutch rider Milan Merckelbagh celebrated his 20th birthday, and now Christmas is just around the corner. Just as important: his contract with Bonovo action/MGM Racing Performance in the IDM Supersport 600 continues. This year at the Hockenheimring, the rookie secured his first podium finish on the Yamaha YZF-R6. Finishing sixth overall, his record is certainly impressive. Merckelbagh scored points in every race—a feat achieved by only three riders.

New team member Patrick Hobelsberger brings with him IDM and World Championship experience in the 600cc class. The 24-year-old from Bavaria therefore also has three wildcard appearances scheduled in the Supersport World Championship. “Of course, the three wildcard starts really appeal to me,” says Hobelsberger. “You can definitely tell that everything is well-organized and that I’m in good hands. It motivates me a lot. Realistically speaking, though, we’re in the IDM to win. In my opinion, that should be the goal.” Hobelsberger has already been training in Spain for ten days as part of his preseason preparations.
