During the 2020 season, Florian Alt competed in three IDM events for the Wilbers-BMW team. The 24-year-old finished on the podium in each of them. Although he missed the season finale at Hockenheim due to his commitments in the World Endurance Championship, which was taking place at the same time, Alt finished fourth overall in the IDM Superbike 1000 class.
He’s raring to go for 2021, and one thing is already certain: Florian Alt is definitely going to become a master technician. Next week, he’ll begin his training to become a master automotive technician. During his apprenticeship, the certified automotive mechatronics technician specialized in high-voltage technology.

Otherwise, Alt sticks to his workout routine. “I don’t need a gym,” says the Gummersbach native, referring to the partial lockdown, during which public facilities are currently closed. His strategy is CrossFit. That means building strength and endurance using his own body weight—push-ups, jumps. “And I do it all at a higher heart rate, because I don’t want to build too much muscle mass,” Alt explains. At the moment, standing 189 centimeters tall, he weighs 73 kilograms with a body mass index of 19. Alt feels comfortable in his own skin. But he doesn’t need to lose any more weight, because he also has to master the Superbike. Craving sweets? Not a chance with Alt.

The 2021 IDM racing season could start right away for Alt. But so far, he hasn't signed a contract with anyone; he's still in negotiations.
