Suzuki has decided to withdraw as an IDM Pool Partner for the 2021 season and, as a result, will not participate in the International German Motorcycle Championship for the time being, choosing instead to focus its activities on other areas during this period dominated by the current coronavirus pandemic.
Since the company’s founding, Suzuki Germany has been actively involved in national and international motorcycle racing. Over many decades, Suzuki teams and riders have achieved numerous successes in various disciplines and championships. Even after the end of the Pro Superbike era and with the relaunch of the series as the IDM, Suzuki remained consistently involved, thereby significantly supporting and shaping motorcycle racing in Germany. This makes the decision to withdraw from national motorcycle racing all the more difficult.
“We would like to thank everyone for the many years of excellent collaboration and wish the organizers, the riders, and our other pool partners a successful and exciting 2021 racing season—one that we will continue to follow with great interest,” said Jürgen Weidmann, General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Motorcycle. “We very much hope that the current spread of the pandemic can be largely contained through the measures taken by state governments and that the 2021 season can begin without major restrictions.”
