The Swiss duo of Markus Schlosser and Marcel Fries won the second race of the IDM Sidecar series at the Lausitzring on their LCR Yamaha. On the seventh of twelve laps, Schlosser overtook eight-time world champion and defending IDM champion Tim Reeves and his passenger Kevin Rousseau to take the lead. The leaders in the IDM standings extended their lead to 5.177 seconds by the finish line.

“That’s how it could have turned out yesterday, too, if I’d had more guts,” Schlosser summed up. “Normally, our lead would have been much bigger today, because there was a yellow flag period after I passed Reeves. At that moment, there was a lapped rider in front of me. But I couldn’t pass him under yellow. During that time, Reeves caught up to us again, but he didn’t get past.” The defeated world champion cited a stuttering engine as the cause of losing the lead.
Just behind the "Berlin Express" driven by Reeves and Rousseau, their teammates Bernie Streuer and Ilse de Haas secured a spot on the podium shortly before the finish line. The Dutch duo from Bonovo Action by MGM Racing got off to a slow start but later managed to push former Finnish world champion Pekka Päivärinta and his co-driver Emmanuelle Clement down to fourth place.
The championship leaders in the 1000cc class, Mike Roscher and Anna Burkard, stayed out of the fray in the 600cc battles and finished sixth overall. But just as in the first race, they won their class in the LCR-BMW sidecar with a commanding lead.
