→ IDM Superbike 1000 star Jonas Folger (Bonovo action powered by MGM Racing) is entering uncharted territory at the Lausitzring. “I don’t know the track. That’s why I’m already curious to see how the Yamaha Superbike handles on this track. I think it’ll be a little tougher than at the Sachsenring given the circumstances. Still, I really like this situation because it’s simply a new challenge for us, and that’s part of racing.” The team doesn’t have a wealth of data to draw on, but Jonas Folger was already nearly a second faster than the rest after the first free practice session.

→ Ilya Mikhalchik of the EGS-alpha-Van Zon-BMW team has already enjoyed success at the Lausitzring. The Ukrainian has won one race each of the past two years. He likes the track; it’s one of his favorites on the IDM calendar.

→ His wife, the baby, the dog, and Kevin Michel spent their first hours together at home after the birth of Mia Valentina; now the Saxon, who lives in Switzerland, has his mind set on racing again. “I skipped the races at the Sachsenring, but we decided together that I’ll compete in the IDM Superstock 600 at the Lausitzring and also at Hockenheim. We want to gather data for next year so we’re in the best possible position for 2021. Maybe we’ll even manage to get a good individual result.”

→ Stefan Ströhlein, last year’s overall champion in the IDM Superstock 600 class, will make his debut in the Supersport 600 class with a guest appearance at the Lausitzring. The master motorcycle mechanic wants to show off his skills to his sponsors. Most of them have already committed to 2021. Yamaha rider Ströhlein has announced his intention to remain in the IDM Supersport 600 until 2022.

→ Other guest riders: Thomas Hainthaler (IDM Superbike 1000, BMW), Christoph Beinlich and Jorn Hamberg (IDM Supersport 600, Yamaha), Max Melzer and Leo Rammerstorfer (IDM Superstock 600, Yamaha), Troy Beinlich (IDM Supersport 300, Kawasaki), Christian Stange (IDM Supersport 300, KTM).
