The IDM Supersport 300 is the entry-level class with performance regulations. After a modest start three years ago, this junior series has since become highly sought-after. It competes with World Championship status as part of the Superbike World Championship. The first riders to move up from the IDM are also competing at the world’s highest level. As the growing field makes clear, more and more young riders are recognizing the potential of the IDM Supersport 300.
The 300cc class is tailor-made for the young and wild. According to FIM regulations, the minimum age for entry is 13. A sophisticated system ensures a level playing field among the individual motorcycles, such as the KTM RC 390 R, Yamaha YZF-R3, and Kawasaki Ninja 400. This is a top priority in developing young talent. Weight and RPM limits have been set for the individual race bikes. The “smallest” bikes rev up to 13,000 rpm, while the larger ones just barely exceed 10,000 rpm. All produce around 50 hp. In the IDM Supersport 300, the races are incredibly close. The winner of a race is usually not decided until after the final turn.
