IDM Supersport 600
Anyone who succeeds in the IDM Supersport has the potential to take the next step. Former champion Jörg Teuchert even became Supersport in 2000. The IDM Supersport is the established middleweight class in Germany’s top motorcycle road racing series. With around 135 hp at the rear wheel, riders reach top speeds of around 270 km/h on their motorcycles. For IDM competition, production bikes from Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha may be fitted with racing fairings and a completely different exhaust system.
Modifications to the fork and shock absorber are also permitted. For fine-tuning, an electronics kit from the respective motorcycle manufacturer may be used. Kit control units, cartridges, large radiators, and much more are allowed. Unlike in the World Championship, blippers are also permitted. The IDM organization does not want to prohibit participants from using what every amateur racer already has. As with the big Superbikes, data recording is permitted in the 600cc class. The IDM Supersport is dominated Supersport the Yamaha R6, the newest machine in the field. Nevertheless, various Kawasakis and Hondas repeatedly manage to give the blue contingent a run for their money.
Saxon rider Max Enderlein is attempting to defend his title on a Yamaha again in 2020.

IDM Superstock 600
The approximately 130-horsepower motorcycles in the Superstock 600 class are all familiar sights and are usually pushed to their absolute limits within the bounds of the current rules. The class was upgraded this year. The former Cup has been awarded IDM status. In the Superstock 600 class, however, many former Yamaha R6 Cup riders have found a new home following the discontinuation of their series. Their desire to continue racing in the familiar IDM environment was unmistakable.
Of course, models from the other IDM pool brands are also permitted, such as a Honda CBR 600 RR, Kawasaki ZX-6R, or a Suzuki GSX-R 600. Compared to the IDM Supersport , fewer modifications are allowed on Superstock motorcycles. Riders must make do with original ECUs, standard radiators, and no cartridges.
The IDM Supersport and the IDM Superstock 600 start in the same field but are scored separately. Visually, they are very easy to distinguish. IDM Supersport wear blue start numbers on a white background, while IDM Superstock 600 participants wear white numbers on a blue background.
