IDM Superbike 1000 – this is the premier class of the International German Motorcycle Championship. It thrives on the star power of its riders and the battle between manufacturers for prestige. High-performance motorcycles from BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha go head-to-head. They boast well over 200 horsepower and reach speeds of over 300 km/h on the fast tracks.
The Superbikes are essentially off-the-shelf 1000cc motorcycles that have been modified for the championship. The class regulations are based on the international FIM Stocksport rules but allow for a few more liberties. For example, kit electronics or modifications to the suspension fork and braking system are permitted. To prevent costs from skyrocketing, price caps are in place. In the IDM Superbike 1000, riders use exclusively Pirelli slicks or rain tires.
