Following the cancellation of the originally planned IDM round in Schleiz by MSC Schleizer Dreieck e.V., Motor Presse Stuttgart, as the organizer and promoter, is continuing to work on a revised calendar for the 2020 IDM. “With at least three weekends, we could run a championship,” confirms series manager Normann Broy. “But we’re pulling out all the stops to organize up to six events.”
In addition to the planned IDM weekends at the Lausitzring and the Hockenheimring in September, Broy is looking for tracks to host additional events and is currently in talks regarding this. “Our priority is the sporting aspect of the events,” said Broy. Most and Assen are also still under consideration.
In collaboration with the authorities, track operators, and event organizers, we are continuing to assess the conditions under which the events can take place. Broy: “Of course, we would love to welcome IDM fans to the stands, but we could also manage with races held without spectators.” In that case, IDM fans should be able to watch the championship races via livestream whenever possible.
“A cornerstone of the IDM is, of course, our partners, whose support we will continue to rely on even with an adjusted schedule,” says Broy.
