The coronavirus has also forced the cancellation of the iconic IDM event at the Schleizer Dreieck. Due to restrictions on large-scale events, the organizing body, MSC Schleizer Dreieck e.V. (part of the ADAC), has been forced to cancel the 86th International Schleizer Dreieck Race, scheduled for July 24–26, 2020.
The races at the Schleizer Dreieck are among the highlights of the IDM calendar, organized by Motor Presse Stuttgart. Every year, thousands of spectators flock to Germany’s only natural race track to enjoy a unique racing celebration both on and off the spectacular street circuit.
We are looking into whether an alternative date can be arranged. The IDM team, led by series manager Normann Broy, is in contact with all relevant authorities and agencies. Discussions are underway with the Saale-Orla District Office, the operating company Schleizer Dreieck mbH, the DMSB, the ADAC, and the MSC Schleizer Dreieck, among others, to determine whether the event can be rescheduled and held after the current ban on large-scale events ends on August 30, 2020.
