IDM Supersport 600: Luca Grünwald und Kawasaki gehen in die nächste Runde

When he raced, he really gave it his all. In seven races in the IDM Supersport 600, he stood on the podium three times, winning twice. He had to sit out the remaining races due to injury. Luca Grünwald went through a difficult period, but now it’s official: the 25-year-old from Waldkraiburg has agreed to another year with the Kawasaki Schnock Team Motorex. Their shared mission is to win the title.

The contract even includes a temporary return to international competition. Two wildcard starts in the Supersport World Championship are planned. Grünwald is relieved that everything is now settled and that he can take to the track in top form on the Kawasaki ZX-6R. “The many injuries during the past season weren’t easy to overcome,” says the Upper Bavarian. “It took a lot of energy every time to come back. After the end of last season, I first let all my injuries heal completely. After that, though, I went through my training and preparation program again in full.”

The fact that a new agreement has been reached with last year’s team gives Grünwald an extra boost. “Last year, we showed that our package is competitive. With this bike, we can be right up there at the front at any time,” he says optimistically, adding, “Hopefully, we’ll be spared any unexpected setbacks this time.”

Above all, there are also two wildcard entries up for grabs in the Supersport World Championship. One is already confirmed: from July 3 to August 2, 2020, in Oschersleben.
